An article the other day discusses what the author calls “a little sweet revenge” relating to the leaders of the lawfare left that have targeted me and others.
Victoria Taft writes at PJ Media documenting the disgusting lawfare effort that began with me by a group called The 65 Project. She reports it has now morphed into a full-on assault on virtually every lawyer working with former President Trump to assist his reelection campaign.
The lawfare campaign even includes pubic advertisements running in legal publications and online in swing states warning Trump’s lawyers that, “We – and the public – are watching” and “Don’t lose your law license because of Trump.”

The ad campaign and subsequent follow-through with bar complaints proves a central point that I have been making for over a year now – the lawfare left want to cower conservative lawyers into refusing to take cases on behalf of conservative causes or officials, effectively allowing them to run the table in legal actions seeking to impose their agenda and worldview.
As one of the preeminent conservative legal scholars and litigators in the country, I stood up to the lawfare left and they went all-in to make an example of me. Unfortunately, they’ve taken a pound of flesh, getting my law license put on inactive status and indicting me in two states.
I am fighting back – and I intend to win – but I need your help. My legal defense fund is depleted and I urgently need your help to replenish it. Will you stand with me today? Please be generous.
The “little sweet revenge” that Ms. Taft takes pleasure in noting comes from a legal action filed just recently by America First Legal (AFL) against Michael Teter, the head of The 65 Project. Teter went after Stefan Passantino, a lawyer representing former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson, alleging that he acted unethically in his representation of Hutchinson before the House January 6th committee. Teter apparently wanted Hutchinson to give more damaging testimony against Trump than she did.
AFL has hoisted Teter on his own petard, filing a bar complaint against him in Utah where he is licensed. The complaint states that Teter had no first-hand knowledge of any of the accusations he made against Passantino, which have now been proven false by the work of the Committee on House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. In fact, most of the language Teter used in his complaint was boilerplate language used in many of the more than 100 other bar complaints that Teter filed against Trump lawyers, including me.

I hope that the Utah Bar orders a hearing into the complaint against Teter and he is ultimately held to account for his outrageous lawfare abuse.
But whatever “sweet revenge” that may come Teter’s way will come too late to benefit me. You see, thanks to the lawfare assault that began with bar complaints filed against me by The 65 Project and a sister organization, States United Democracy Center, I’ve been dragged through hell – the longest and most expensive bar court hearing in California history, an indictment in Georgia at the hands of the disgraced Fani Willis, being named an unindicted co-conspirator by federal prosecutor Jack Smith, and a second criminal indictment in the state of Arizona.
I’ve had to spend well over $1.5 million thus far defending myself, and I’m looking at needing to come up with at least that much more going forward before all is said and done.
I can’t handle that kind of burden myself, and am praying that my legal defense fund will receive the financial support needed to carry out my defense. I am very grateful to everyone who has donated thus far, but unfortunately our funds have been exhausted and we urgently need to raise additional support now.
Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, or $1,000 or more will make a big difference in helping me continue to push back and fight the left’s lawfare abuse.
Perhaps the bar complaint filed against the head of The 65 Project will make a difference, curtailing their efforts to punish lawyers for representing former President Trump. But the ultimate way to defeat this pernicious lawfare abuse is to defeat it in court. That is exactly what I am determined to do.
My family and I will be extremely grateful for anything you can do to help my legal team in that regard. Thank you!
Sincerely,
John Eastman
