I’ve talked before about the extraordinary work my legal team is doing to not only defend my good name and reputation, but to defeat the entire lawfare left as they seek to punish anyone associated with helping Donald Trump raise concerns about election integrity.
An example of our efforts can be found in pushing back against the partisan Democrat prosecutor in Arizona who is prosecuting me in that state even though I had nothing to do with challenging any election results in Arizona.
We’ve filed an important “anti-SLAPP” motion seeking to dismiss the indictment as a violation of First Amendment rights.
Many states have laws protecting people from punitive lawsuits brought by powerful groups seeking to intimidate opponents through the filing of expensive litigation against them. Such lawsuits are often called “SLAPP” suits – Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation.
A couple of years ago, Arizona became the first State in the Union to include criminal prosecutions in its anti-SLAPP statute. The law creates a framework for cases to be quickly dismissed if a defendant can prove the case was substantially motivated by retaliation because they exercised a constitutional right, like freedom of speech.
Our motion makes it clear that Attorney General Kris Mayes is prosecuting me because of political motivations, including partisan animus against Donald Trump. She hopes that her lawsuit will aide in the defeat of Trump in Arizona this year.
Fighting against Kris Mayes and other partisan prosecutors has exhausted my legal defense fund. I’ve spent about $1.5 million on this and the other cases I’m facing because of lawfare radicals, and I’m looking at needing more than that amount to defend myself going forward.
I can’t carry this burden on my own, so I ask you to please make an immediate financial gift to my legal defense fund so I have the resources needed to fight the radicals.
Since I had nothing to do with legal challenges to the Arizona election results in 2020, Kris Mayes is prosecuting me for speaking out with concerns as to potential illegalities and irregularities around the country and potentially in Arizona as well. That speech is core to the First Amendment and exactly what legislators had in mind when amending the anti-SLAPP statute in 2022.
Our motion, the first of its kind in Arizona as far as we are aware, is under review by the judge. We believe we made a compelling argument for why the case should be dismissed, and now await the judge’s ruling.
If the judge refuses to dismiss the case, then we’re likely in for a long, arduous and expensive legal battle in Arizona. The judge has set the trial date for January 2026!
That means we are potentially looking at eighteen months of legal expense I’m incurring with the terrific legal team I have in place in Arizona before I ever get my day in court.
The left’s efforts to bleed me dry is one of the key goals of their lawfare attacks — to keep me on defense and scare others from ever taking on the kind of cases I’m known for, protecting our constitutional rights against an increasingly abusive government.
I’m determined to slap down the lawfare radicals who are targeting me, former President Trump and other supporters of the former president. But right now my coffers are empty and I am worried I won’t have the funds needed to prevail.
Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, or $1,000 or more is urgently needed to help replenish my defense fund and allow my legal defense team to continue to aggressively push back against the lawfare left and partisan prosecutors like Kris Mayes, Fani Willis and Jack Smith.
Thank you for whatever you can do to help.
Sincerely,
John Eastman
