To understand how closely my indictment for helping represent Donald Trump in 2020 is tied to the current 2024 presidential campaign, let me introduce into evidence this new article from Rolling Stone:
“Gonzo for Democracy”
In the piece published on October 27th, “documentarian” Lauren Windsor explains in breathtaking fashion how she “went undercover” to expose me as an “election denier.” In a “shocking revelation,” she reports that I allegedly told her back in 2021 that there was “no question” my legal rationale for challenging the election results was “solid.”

Uh…well…that’s quite a scoop from Ms. Windsor. My legal rationale WAS solid. And it still is.
The fact that the uber-liberal Rolling Stone would publish an article like this just days before the 2024 presidential election underscores their desire to influence the outcome of the current election. In fact, that is its sole purpose.
They couldn’t care less that the article seeks to damage my reputation and potentially influence future juries against me. They’re interested in getting Donald Trump, and I’m a tool for them to do so.
Same as I was back in 2020.
I need your help to take on the radicals, including the lawfare left and their sycophantic media cheerleaders like Rolling Stone. My legal defense fund has been depleted and I urgently need to raise funds now to continue my defense. Please give generously.
It’s pretty funny to consider how fake the Rolling Stone “expose” is truly. In a url embedded in her story, Ms. Windsor links to video footage she recorded (probably illegally) while talking to me at a reception three years ago. In it, she pretends to be a supporter and frames comments and questions in such a way as to encourage me to agree with her. Even that deceptive approach, however, only reveals my comments to be fair and legitimately concluded.
She lied that she “is a huge Trump supporter” who attended my speech at the January 6th rally in Washington. I responded, “Yeah. Did I incite you to go down to the Capitol to riot?” She doesn’t answer my question because, of course, I incited nobody to riot.
When she leaped praise on my representation of Mr. Trump as “doing the Lord’s work,” I thanked her and noted comments from my former professor that if you’re not taking flak you’re not over the target. “My God, I must be directly over it. I don’t think there’s anybody to catch as much incoming flak, maybe other than Trump himself,” I remarked.
Two indictments and a state disbarment trial later, and that conclusion from 2021 is still spot on today.

Ironically, when the fake “supporter” criticized Mike Pence for not acting on the legal options I laid out, which she said “was solid,” I pointed out that even at that time three years ago the Democrats were planning on going after former President Trump:
“They’re already anticipating Trump winning in 2024, and they’re using my arguments from that memo that they all said had no credibility to argue that Kamala Harris can block Trump’s electoral votes.”
This was not the first time that I graced the cover of Rolling Stone. It was two years ago when, like the great ‘Dr. Hook and The Medicine Show’ song of the same name, I was on “the cover of Rolling Stone.” That effort was intended to get me to flip on former President Trump by falsely suggesting that Trump was going to make me “the fall guy” and “a patsy.” It was a gonzo suggestion and a wasted effort. Trump had no such plans and I’m not flipping on Donald Trump because neither he nor I did anything wrong.
We’ll see how things unfold as the votes are cast on November 5th. But you can be certain of this: There is no length that the Democrats won’t go to prevent Donald Trump from returning to the White House. If it takes Kamala Harris adopting the legal rationale I laid out for Mike Pence’s consideration in 2020 – one they mocked as “election denying” – then that’s what they will do.
I can’t do much to counter the efforts of leftwing lawyers and media outlets like Rolling Stone to interfere in the 2024 elections other than fight them in court. That’s exactly what I plan to do, but I need your financial support to prevail.
My legal defense fund has already spent more than $1.5 million fighting the lawfare left and partisan prosecutors that are arrayed against me, and I’m looking at needing to spend at least that much (or more) going forward. Our funds have been exhausted and we urgently need to raise additional support now.
Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, or $1,000 or more will make a big difference in helping me continue to push back and fight for what is right.
Leftwing activists like Lauren Windsor and Rolling Stone may be “gonzo for democracy” but I’m more interested in going gonzo for the Constitution and the rule of law.
My family and I will be extremely grateful for anything you can do to help my legal team in that regard. Thank you!
Sincerely,
John Eastman
